Warner Edwards Botanical Gin

Warner Edwards Botanical Gin

We were approached by Warner Edwards regarding a sachet of seed for their new botanical range of gins, as a result, ‘Melissa’ Lemon Balm Gin is the first of the Botanical Garden limited edition range which will use various herbaceous plants from Warner Edwards’ newly-built garden.

Lemon Balm is a member of the mint family, also known by its Latin name Melissa officinalis. The 43% ABV gin is an herbaceous explosion on the pallet full, of fresh green notes; a robust juniper core is enveloped by a beautiful citrus and mint layer that makes this gin fresh and distinctive with a very delicate sweetness. Lovingly distilled with pure spring water from the Farm, each gin is beautifully balanced with the flavours and aromas of garden herbs.

The ‘Melissa’ Lemon Balm Gin was inspired by Founder Tom Warner’s late mother Adèle, who was a keen gardener and used the aromatic herbs within her cooking. Each bottle will have a seed packet for people to start their own herb garden and grow their very own lemon balm – perfect to use as a garnish!

“The sunflower seeds ‘went down a treat’! They went out as part of a direct marketing mailer, we’ve had great response from the campaign. The seeds were great, we also felt the Mr. Fothergill’s branding really gave them a sense of quality. Highly recommendable.”

“Fothergill’s have been great from start to finish, helping us put together the seed packets for our ‘Nurture your Nature’ campaign to encourage gardening for mental wellbeing. The customer service was great and they have been there to guide us through the process when we needed them. We’ve been offering the seeds to our new donors, and giving them to our own support and service groups to help with gardening projects for people affected by mental illness and their carers.  The packets look great, they’ve been really popular!”

“We were approached by a large restaurant chain to design fun, educational children’s activity packs. In two of the concepts we included packets of seeds to support our themes and to encourage children to grow their own plants. Families have been totally delighted by the inclusion of Mr Fothergills seeds and in lots of cases could not wait to get home to plant them. Thank you to the team at Mr Fothergills!”

Shortcross Gin

Shortcross Gin

Shortcross Gin is “Gin of the Month” in March 2016 with the esteemed gin lovers members club – Craft Gin Club.  We wanted to offer members something a little bit different and we thought what better than to offer them the option to “Grow your own Garnish”.       The cocktail scene has definitely followed the food scene and provenance and traceability of ingredients are certainly becoming more important in the world of mixology.  As discerning gin drinkers, we knew Craft Gin Club members would want to get involved in growing edible flowers for their Shortcross creations.

The flowers we chose from Mr Fothergills were to compliment the aesthetic nature of our Shortcross Gin cocktails and to compliment the foraged ingredients in our gin.  Our special edition “wild clover” gin is particularly green and floral and we found that the viola’s complimented it particularly well.

Maria and Amanda at Mr Fothergills were particularly helpful in selecting the flowers and making the process smooth and enjoyable – in a particularly busy and otherwise hectic period here at Shortcross HQ!

We can’t wait to see the results of the beautiful viola’s in bloom!

Love the Plot You’ve Got!

Love the Plot You’ve Got!

The innovative Love the Plot You’ve Got campaign, managed by The Garden Industry Marketing Board, launched in 2015 was designed to encourage people to get out and enjoy their gardens, backyards or balconies. Aimed at consumers in their 30s and 40s who are not heavily engaged in gardening, to encourage them to make the most of their outdoor space, whether for rest, relaxation, socialising or having fun with the family.
